Last year the Cycling Club did a pilot program grooming a 5-6 mile loop at the Big M for fat biking. Because that went so well the National Forest Service has given us the okay to groom the “Outer Loop” of the Big M in addition to the loop we did last winter. That brings our total mileage up to approximately 20 miles of groomed fat bike trail. That will make this the biggest groomed fat bike loop in the Lower Peninsula!
Because of the narrow trail we needed to purchase some new grooming equipment. We have raised more than $4,000 so far and are down to about $2,000 left towards the purchase of a Best Tracksled that will be delivered around the end of January. The best description I can give of a tracksled is that it is the belt of a snowmobile with a motor mounted on top and the operator stands on a platform behind it and steers. Tracksleds are very good in deep snow and can navigate narrow singletrack well.
The best way to help us get the Tracksled and be able to groom the outer loop of the Big M is to write a check to the Shoreline Cycling Club. We are a 501c3 non-profit, so you can get a tax deduction for your contributions. That check can be mailed to:

You could also gift the amount to the club via PayPal. The Club’s Paypal email address is members@shorelinecyclingclub.org
