Silver Lake Sand Dunes ride - Saturday morning
We've been asked to hold a group ride to help the Michigan DNR evaluate the feasibility of winter fat biking in the ORV section of the Silver Lake Sand Dunes as an allowed use. A group of Shoreline Cycling Club members rode there with a DNR official in March of 2020. And they would like to expand that opportunity. So the SCC is partnering with Michigan's Edge Mountain Bike Association and holding four group rides over the course of the March 13-14 weekend. We are required to provide liability insurance for the group ride. Primarily the ride is a member benefit for the two clubs but we have a limited number of slots for each ride for soon-to-be-members of the Shoreline Cycling Club. Due to COVID we can only have 24 riders per session. So the 20 bucks makes you a member of the Shoreline Cycling Club for a year and allows 8 riders per session currently outside of both clubs to ride the dunes legally.
Trust me when I say it is worth it... This ride will be from 9am to 11:30am on Saturday, March 13. Meet at the Silver Lake State Park Pedestrian Dune Access area, see image. There are 8 openings for non-SCC & MEMBA club members for each of the four rides.
There will be COVID protocols and check ins in place. Be prepared to scan a QR code at the entrance and please have a mask and maintain physical distance from other riders. Once your payment is received we will email you a waiver. We need that back prior to the ride.
